Using Groups
Managing groups and basic reports
** We strongly suggest you use a laptop of desktop computer when managing your group. You have a mass of detail here and you will need the computer real estate.
After purchase My Library via the Teacher/Tutor button. takes you to your own member profile and below this button, your group management page
NB There are lots of drop down boxes. Use them to refine what your are looking for.
1. If you have more than one group select your group. (name chosen at purchase)
2. Below a highlighted course name will take you if you wish to the course materials.
3. Below this will be your enrolled users once you enrol them.
4. There are a button and 2 dropdown boxes here Users and Reports
NB you can add and remove students as you wish so do not be scared to practice on your own email addresses to see how this works.
The users button has 4 choices for adding students to your group
1. Add one. Just type in the users email address name etc and they will be invited to join.
2. Add multiple is the same but you can do lots at one time.
3. Upload users is great if you are used to using spreadsheets. Here you can download an example of the the column headings you need then just add your students and upload it back to your group. They will all get invited to join.
4. Download keys The 4th way is to use a generated enrolment key and send this to your student and they can use this to join the group. The download keys button just takes you to your list of remaining number keys available to you. To actually send an enrolment key go back to add one option and at the top you will see an enrollment key radio button option.
Email users does at it says but is very useful for you to send bulk or selective emails to your students. This may be a general greeting or an instruction directing them to do a particular module or task within a module.
Export CSV allows you to export a simple group list.
Going beyond the Users dropdown box if you check the radio button next to a student more options appear. These are Remove user/s and Send password reset.
Clicking a students’ name will bring up their details which you can amend.
Clicking their email address takes you to send an email to them individually.
Clicking the small green radio button next to a name brings up more details
There is also a search box if you have lots of users to speed up looking for them. With all searches 3 letters will usually bring up search options and will narrow your list to that student only.
Here you will find two reports Subject and Progress
Subject here again you will see a summary of your group members and a customize columns option allows you to hide or show columns but offers little that is new.
Progress however allows you to search an individual student and see their progress across all units and learning steps. You can see the ones that they have marked complete but you can also mark them complete yourself. For example a student may have submitted a task to you direct from the content using the email option and you may have marked this and can now show the student that they have completed the task.
This first page gives an overview but the button at the bottom will take you to Detailed Reports / Progress Record which will give far more information. From here you can see every detail down to the answers submitted by each of your students to particular tasks, quizzes or tests.
